New window for Cuba’s private sector

With the creation of the Ofertas.cu website, the National Information Agency (AIN) is expanding the spaces for classified ads and publicity available to the new economic actors of the non-state area.

Cuba expanded the means to give a breath of fresh air to the private market with the recent coming out of the Ofertas website, a platform for the presentation of classified ads and publicity published by the National Information Agency (AIN). Europe optimistically sets its sights on Cuba

A French credit insurance firm is waiting for Cuba’s economy to grow more in the near future with the end of the U.S. blockade.

In the next years the Cuban economy’s growth could exceed the government’s forecasts for 2015. A French credit insurance firm, the Euler Hermes society, estimates that from 2016 to 2020 Cuba’s gross domestic product (GDP) could increase between five and six per cent because of a normalisation of relations with the United States. Other data indicate that a growth of this magnitude could already be perceived starting this year.

Cuba-U.S. banking agreement

The establishment of a correspondent agreement with the BICSA expands an action initiated by the Stonegate Bank when it accepted taking over the banking transactions of the Interests Section that would later become the Cuban Embassy in Washington.

The Cuban Banco Internacional de Comercio S.A. (BICSA) and the Florida-based Stonegate Bank confirmed an agreement that eases one of the most tenacious obstacles of the U.S. economic blockade on Cuba in recent years. Both sides announced the correspondent agreement last July 21, one day after the reestablishment of diplomatic relations between both countries and the corresponding opening of embassies.
